Psalm 51:7-12
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones that you have broken rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins,
and blot out all my iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from your presence,
and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and uphold me with a willing spirit. ESV
Psalm 51:7-12 When was the last time you were broken? You knew you had made choices that were hurtful to people & to God. What do you do in a moment like that? What do you do with your sin? David had not readily recognized his sin until the Prophet Nathaniel used an analogy & the Holy Spirit opened his eyes. David was undone with the guilt of his sin & he cries out to God in repentance. David knows there is no earning his way back to right standing. David needs to be washed in the blood of Jesus. David has a hope in the Messiah to come who will wipe away his sin & purify him. A Messiah that will give him a new heart & provide him perfect righteousness from God! It is found in Christ Alone! Have you cried out to the one who endured the cross-rose again-sits at the right hand of God? If no-why not?
