Psalm 23:1-6
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
3 He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. ESV
Psalm 23 Are you being led in this life or are you just winging it? Many I speak with live the life best described as Tyranny of the Urgent. They respond to who or what screams fire the loudest. The problem comes when their life is on fire & they are the one screaming. David writes this Psalm and he comes to know & believe that there is one God who is Sovereign over all things. God is the Great Shepherd who calls His Sheep & they follow Him. God protects, feeds, guides, leads, disciplines, instructs, loves His Sheep. This Psalm is often read at funerals but it as a Psalm for the living! Through Jesus we dwell in the House of the Lord each new day forever. The question or struggle comes in letting go of the illusion that you are in charge. He provides your righteousness! Repent-Believe-Follow Him! Pray through this Psalm.
