Jonah Flees the Presence of the Lord
1 Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, 2 “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it, for their evil has come up before me.” 3 But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish. So he paid the fare and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish, away from the presence of the Lord. ESV
Jonah 1:1-3 Is your life marked by periods of running? Did you come to understand why you were running or what you were running away from or toward? Are you still running? In Philippians Paul speaks of running the race of faith toward Christ as the finish line. Jonah gets a word from the Lord & once he heard Nineveh his running began. Did he really imagine that he could outrun the reach of the Lord God? We are privileged to share the word of God which for us today is that Jesus lived-died on the cross-was buried-rose on the third day-sits at God’s right hand & will return. The results are entirely up to God. May we never be like Jonah & hold back the Word of God! Repent-Believe-Follow today!
